The Power Within: Wearing Strength, Funding Hope
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It's a time to reflect, remember, and rally. For millions of women and men around the world, breast cancer is not only a personal battle, it's a family’s journey and a powerful reminder of human resilience.
This October, I want to do more than raise awareness. I want to give back in a tangible way. That’s why I’m donating 10% of all sales proceeds from The Power Within Sweatshirt to FCancer, a nonprofit organization that’s changing the conversation around cancer through prevention, early detection, and patient support.
Why Breast Cancer Awareness Month Matters
Every two minutes, a woman in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer. It doesn’t discriminate, touching daughters, mothers, sisters, spouses, colleagues, and friends. Even as a neurosurgeon, I often see the ripple effects it has on patients, families, and our healthcare community.
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is about more than pink ribbons. It’s about education, advocacy, and empowering people to take control of their health through screening, self-awareness, and support.
The Power Within: More Than a Shirt
When we designed The Power Within sweatshirt, it was in an effort to go beyond a cozy crew. We wanted it to be a symbol.

And it’s not just in the name, it’s in the details. The right sleeve shows off prismatic lightning bolts representing unstoppable energy and resilience. The left sleeve showcases the empowering motto “BE THE ENERGY YOU WANT TO ATTRACT” making it the perfect reminder that positivity and strength radiate outward.
Why FCancer?
I’ve chosen to partner with FCancer because their mission aligns with what I believe in: emphatic education, early detection, and compassionate patient care. And let's be real. FCancer stands for Fuck Cancer. Why use such strong language? "Because it’s what everyone is thinking during that head-in-your-hands moment. It’s not sexual or violent. It’s defeated and defiant. 'Fuck' is a visceral response to a life-altering disease. Taking this private word and making it public is powerful because if there was ever a time to say 'Fuck,' it’s now." (I quoted that right from their About page.)
Essentially, this nonprofit takes an authentic, innovative, and justifiably unfiltered approach to cancer awareness, because sometimes we just need to cut through the crap and get real about prevention and support.
