From Scrubs to Style: The Story Behind the Ladyspinedoc x Dr. Beachgem Collab

It all started with a DM...

...Dr. Beachgem, slid into Dr. Betsy Grunch’s (Ladyspinedoc’s) messages with one burning question: Who helped you start your clothing line? Dr. Beachgem, a popular pediatric emergency medicine physician and mom of four kids, had one goal – to design and sell a tee. But instead of just handing over a contact, Dr. Grunch suggested an even better idea: Let’s do this together. And just like that, the first-ever collab on Ladyspinedoc.com was born!

Code Cart: The First Drop

The debut piece from the Ladyspinedoc x Beachgem collection? Code Cart - a design featuring the ultimate adrenaline rush: the epinephrine molecule. The collection gets its name from the crash cart (aka "code cart") used in emergencies, where epinephrine is a critical, life-saving medication found right in the top drawer.

For Dr. Beachgem, this one hits close to home. As a sepsis survivor and a full-fledged adrenaline junkie, epinephrine is more than just a med—it’s a symbol of survival, purpose, and passion. She also wears an epinephrine molecule necklace as a daily reminder of her journey. And in March 2025, she took it one step further – getting her first tattoo: an epinephrine molecule inked permanently on her arm (with Dr. Grunch right by her side!) Now, thanks to Code Cart, that message of resilience and strength is out in the world for anyone who wants to rep it – whether they’ve faced the code or simply appreciate its fearless symbolism.

Heart of Medicine: Merging Fashion with a Cause

Just as the collab kicked off, life threw a curveball – Dr. Beachgem’s home was devastated by Hurricane Helene. In response, Ladyspinedoc wasted no time, launching the Heart of Medicine crewneck sweatshirt. Featuring Dr. Beachgem’s distinctive Heart of Medicine logo on the front, this piece wasn’t just about style – it was about support. Proceeds from the sales went directly to helping Dr. Beachgem and a charity of her choice, which ended up being 360 Eats, a Tampa Bay nonprofit bridging the gaps between food waste and food insecurity. For Dr. Grunch and Dr. Beachgem, the heart of medicine is about showing compassion and purpose – helping people and patients every day simply because that’s who they are and what they’re called to do.

Beyond Code Cart: The Collab Keeps Growing

The energy didn’t stop with Code Cart and Heart of Medicine – Ladyspinedoc x Beachgem kept the momentum going with even more designs that blend science, medicine, and a healthy dose of clever fun:

  • Enerjava: A caffeine molecule cleverly shaped like a coffee carafe pouring into a cup—perfect for medical professionals, science lovers, or anyone else fueled by caffeine.
  • Dopamine Rush: A dopamine molecule design that perfectly captures the thrill of achievement, happiness, and good vibes.
  • Perk Up Rx: A clever nod to the coffee prescription – featuring Caffeine PO Q4H PRN (PO = by mouth, Q4H = every 4 hours, PRN = as needed). Ideal for anyone who relies on their daily doses of coffee.

These designs are available on a variety of tee shirts, sweatshirts, long-sleeve tees, tanks, scrub hats, and insulated steel cups – so you can rep your love of medicine and science at work, home, or anywhere!

Two Doctors, One Mission
