Meet Lindsey Shelton (@Scrubhacks): Nurse, Advocate, and Ladyspinedoc Collaborator
If you’ve ever laughed your way through a TikTok about life in the hospital trenches, odds are you already know Lindsey Shelton, aka @ScrubHacks. Lindsey is a traveling ICU nurse, mental health advocate, podcast co-host, and one of the most entertaining voices in healthcare social media. Her brutally honest and hilariously relatable content has built a powerful community of nurses, med students, and anyone who’s ever had a rough shift and a sense of humor.
Lindsey didn’t always dream of nursing; she explored modeling and veterinary science first, but she eventually found her calling in scrubs. When COVID hit, she and her husband (also a nurse) became travel nurses. The experience was eye-opening, overwhelming, and incredibly real. To cope with the emotional toll, Lindsey started creating content. Scrubhacks was born, and it struck a nerve in the best way.
What started as funny TikTok videos became a powerful voice for nurses everywhere. Lindsey’s content calls out toxic hospital culture, champions self-advocacy, and reminds nurses they aren’t alone. She hosts the podcast Friends and Enemas and uses every platform she can to speak truth with humor.
That’s precisely why her ongoing collaboration with Ladyspinedoc (Dr. Betsy Grunch) is such a perfect fit. Both women are fierce advocates for the healthcare community, using their platforms to call out what’s broken, celebrate what’s resilient, and bring humor to the hardest parts of the job.
So, how did it all start?
They met on a whim while both in New York City, a spontaneous meetup that quickly turned into a genuine friendship built on openness, honesty, and a shared passion for content creation. As a physician and a nurse, they recognized that their aligned values weren’t just rare, they were powerful. That spark turned into a mission: to create something that centers compassion, collaboration, and a new kind of culture in medicine.
The result? A merch line that’s more than just clever, it’s wearable advocacy with purpose and personality.
The collection is packed with standout pieces that strike the perfect balance between funny and fierce. One fan favorite is the Brain Farts hoodie, which turns everything neuro into bold, brainy art you can actually wear. The Nothing Changes If Nothing Changes tee reminds every nurse that speaking up and seeking support isn’t weakness, it’s strength. And now there’s a fresh drop: the new navy Nurses Collage tee! Designed by ER nurse and artist Hillary of Her Crescent & Co, it features playful icons every nurse knows and loves – like grippy socks, Foleys, pizza, meds, ice chips, and the classic turkey sandwich, all reimagined as adorable, chaotic little shift MVPs. It’s the perfect mix of chaos and charm, just like life on the hospital floor.
This collab isn’t just about looking good on every shift (though it nails that too). It’s about building community, sparking conversations, and wearing pieces that get you. Every design tells a story, sometimes hilarious, sometimes heartfelt, but always real.
